The Fort Scott Area Community Foundation is grateful to be selected for the second consecutive year as the recipient of the Fort Scott Community Gala proceeds. These funds help to build an endowment that will allow the Foundation to make grants to local organizations well into the future.
“Once again the Gala Steering Committee selected the Fort Scott Area Community Foundation as the beneficiary of the 2011 Gala proceeds. With a 50% match available from the Kansas Health Foundation for another year, we want to take advantage of this opportunity to increase our gift by 50%,” said Carla Bryant Farmer, Gala Co-chairman.
The 23rd Annual Fort Scott Community Gala will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011. The event will be held at the River Room Event Center located above the Buffalo Grill, 3 W. Oak, Fort Scott, Kan. Doors will open at 6: 30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 7: 30 p.m. Multiphonic, a well-known dance band from Kansas City, will perform music for the dance following dinner. The Gala has chosen “Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Future” as this year’s patriotic theme and will honor those who have served our country and our community. “We strive each year to bring new and exciting activities to the Gala so that our guests who have attended since 1989 feel that it is still a fun and new experience,” said Ken Lunt, Gala Co-chairman.
Reservations are available at three levels beginning at $65 for an individual. The Trendsetter level for $100 and the Pacesetter level at $1000 for a table of 10 are also available. A pre-party gathering on the evening of the Gala for Trendsetters and Pacesetters will be hosted in the home of Beth and Larry Nuss.
