The Fort Scott Area Community Foundation is excited about the following 501(c)(3) charitable organizations that were the beneficiaries of grants for the 2018-2019 year. Because of the generosity of those who appreciate the flexibility and accountability of the FSACF, on Nov. 1, 2019, FSACF grants totaling $32,500.00 were given to the following 501(c)(3) organizations:
- Eastern Kansas Adult Education FSCC: GED scholarships for 20 high school dropouts
- Lowell Milken Center: Educational tools for visiting children
- USD 234: Books for 8th graders to study about Empathy
- Friends of USD 234: New instruments for the FSHS band
- Tri-Valley: 2 wheelchairs
- Care to Share: Money for needs of cancer victims
- FSCC: Gymnasium update to become compliant with the American Disability Act regulations
- USD 234: Backboard for FSHS tennis courts
- Bourbon County CASA: New volunteer training
- Pioneer Harvest Fiesta: Fairground facilities’ repairs and upgrades
- F.S. Convention and Visitors Bureau: 3-day, Veterans’ Day celebration
- USD 234: Mentoring opportunities for FSHS students paired with community leaders
- USD 234-1st grade: First-graders to visit and learn about Ft. Scott businesses
- USD 234: STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) opportunities to challenge middle and high school students
- KS-Ne Conference of Seventh-day Adventist: “Bags of Love” – personal items for foster children
