Planned Giving

In recent years, the Fort Scott Area Community Foundation (FSACF) has received several bequests that have contributed significantly to the well-being of Fort Scott and the surrounding area. These generous planned gifts will continue to serve the common good and improve the quality of life for Bourbon County residents for years to come. We invite you to join your neighbors in making a planned gift to the Community Foundation through your will, trust, retirement account, or insurance policy.

Who We Are

FSACF was established in 2007 to meet the needs of Fort Scott, Kansas, and the surrounding area. FSACF encourages philanthropy and provides donors with a variety of giving options. The Foundation helps donors meet their charitable goals by creating a giving and granting environment that addresses the immediate and long-term needs of the Fort Scott area.

The Community Foundation provides an effective way to build permanent funds to support personal charitable goals, establish family legacies, or help to meet specific community needs.  Planned gifts may be set up to go into any existing fund of the Foundation, or you may choose to establish a new fund to benefit the charities or causes of your choice.

How to Make a Planned Gift

There are several ways to set up planned giving to accommodate different donors’ needs. Donors can include the Foundation in their wills, trusts, or as beneficiary or co-beneficiary on retirement plans or life-insurance policies. We encourage donors to talk to their attorney, financial planner, CPA, or other professional advisor to determine what kind of planned gift works best for their financial and tax circumstances.
