2025-2026 scholarship applications are open through March 31

Students from throughout Southeast Kansas will receive support for their education thanks to the 2025 scholarship cycle at the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas and its affiliates, including the Fort Scott Area Community Foundation. Scholarship applications for the 2025-2026 school year became available January 15 and will remain open until 11:59 p.m. March 31.

CFSEK and its affiliates host 45 scholarship opportunities, including a handful focused on students from Bourbon County. Combined, those 45 opportunities have awarded over $700,000 in scholarships to hundreds of Southeast Kansas students since 2008. Last year, combined scholarships totaled more than $160,000 to 72 area students.

“I’m so excited for scholarship season and seeing all of the wonderful things area students are achieving,” said CFSEK Program Coordinator Kara Mishmash. Mishmash has prepared a pre-application checklist and is planning to offer workshops and virtual office visits for high-school seniors. “The new workshop opportunities and virtual meetings we’ve implemented will be a fantastic way to get in front of the students to ensure they’re comfortable with the software and confident in their understanding of the questions. Being a small part of their journey is amazing!”

Scholarship applications must be completed online through the Scholarships Portal by March 31. Contact Kara at CFSEK or call 620.231.8897 with any questions.
